The Council of Trade Unions is welcoming initiatives announced today to give workers more security as the economy slows.
Ain’t no sunshine for workers in National’s employment policy - July 24 2008.
“Cuts in workers’ rights and entitlements and privatisation are all this party has to offer to date. The threats to workers rights hinted at in today’s release just add to their policy to privatise ACC, allow 90 days of unfairness at work, remove free early childhood education and threaten KiwiSaver contributions.”

The Council of Trade Unions reiterated its call for National to release any background material in support of last week’s employment policy release.
Work rights getting better for casuals
“The rights at work for casual workers are about to get better, and no party should stand it the way of this much needed law change,” Council of Trade Unions president Helen Kelly said.
Whats at stake
There is a danger this election that the ‘time for a change’ mantra will over-ride all rational attempts to explore just what that change might mean for workers.
